Summer Program

SAT Preparation Course
Syracuse University's College Enhancement Program (SUCEP) is a program designed to allow talented middle and high school students get an early start on their college preparation. Students will be provided with numerous opportunities to acquire and develop the necessary academic skills in math, science and technology. The design and implementation of the program can vary from summer to summer based upon students' needs and interests.

The SUCEP Program Seeks

  1. To expose students to numerous careers requiring basic and advanced skills in mathematics and science.
  2. To provide students with opportunities to meet with role models and community leaders who may enhance their career and academic goals.
  3. To provide its participants with a creative and innovative learning experience.
  4. To integrate the various academic components to provide relevance and continuity to learning.
  5. To promote an environment that motivates students to continue the learning process on a personal level inside and outside of the classroom.
  6. To increase students' knowledge about computers with particular emphasis placed on using the Internet for academic research
  7. To expose parents to various workshops that will assist them in taking an active role in their children's academic lives.

Program Description
Students will participate in interdisciplinary hands-on activities that will expose them to the latest technological advances in Language Arts and Math. This program will mainly assist students in acquiring the skills necessary to perform well on the SAT examination. SUCEP's Objectives 3, 4 and 5 serve as the foundational framework for the design and implementation of this program

Program Objectives

  • To increase students' performance on the SAT examination.
  • To make information about colleges and universities available to the students and their parents.
  • To improve the overall academic performance of program participants enrolled in secondary schools during the academic year.
